This past spring, Dr. Linda Rohleder (Director and President of the Wild Woods Restoration Project) spoke to the group about how she drafted her own forest management plan so she could apply for Regenerate NY funding (click here to watch the webinar recording).

Regenerate NY is a New York State Department of Environmental Conservation grant that’s awarded to forest landowners who want to implement large stewardship projects on their properties- award money can go up to $50,000! To apply, you need a management plan, which is a document that’s typically completed by a professional forester. Linda wanted a plan that was tailor-made for her smaller woodlot and focused on her goals of biodiversity and deer exclosure, so she decided to write one herself.

We’re taking a tour of Linda’s woods to see her management plan in action and learn about how to get and use Regenerate NY money. We’ll end the morning by adding native understory plants back into the woods. For those who are interested in the work that Wild Woods Restoration Project is doing, this event is for you!

What to bring: Water bottle, hiking shoes, a bagged lunch, and anything else you need to feel comfortable for a late summer day outdoors. We’ll provide gloves and any other necessary tools
