The Massachusetts Women Landowner Group (Women on the Land), Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust, North County Land Trust, and the Hubbardston Open Space Committee is offering a two-day chainsaw safety course to build proficiency for beginning women chainsaw users.

Register today for this 2-day comprehensive training. Work together alongside a small group of women and learn about safe use of this valuable tool. Topics covered include maintenance, sharpening, basic cuts, bucking, limbing and felling.

The Maine Organic Farmers & Gardeners Association and the Lakes Environmental Association of Bridgton, Maine, are partnering to offer a Women's Chainsaw Safety Workshop in August.

Details are finalized for our Game of Logging courses this fall, with Northeast Woodland Training.

Merck Forest will be offering a Women's Only Game of Logging course for Level One on September 28th. Participants receive training and certification in precision felling techniques, safety checks, and chainsaw best practices. Tuition cost is $180 per person, and we offer accommodations in our Barn Cabins for people who may be traveling from a distance at the rate of $10 / person / night.

Women's Chainsaw Safety 101

This two-day introductory chainsaw safety course is designed for women.

High winds and saturated soils can result in damage to forest and yard trees. In terms of repairing the damage to your landscape, safety is of utmost importance. The first thing many people do is grab the chain saw.

This two-day course is designed for women. Our goal is that each student will leave the course being keenly aware of how to evaluate practices, and equipment for safety.

The Okefenokee wildlife refuge wildfire is a good reminder that wildfires can happen anytime, anywhere. Normally spring rains keep the soils, plants and trees moist in this portion of northern Florida and southern Georgia. This year the springs rain did not come and the lack of precipitation allowed the woods to dry out. This, in turn, made the woods more prone to fire caused by a lightning strike.
